Leasure time
Croatian club members, with their families and friends, gather together several times throughout the year, indoors or outdoors.
Whether it’s a holiday, birthday, wedding or just a getaway, at the end there are always great memories and good fun.
Members support each other during difficult times as well, but with more good times than bad, the spirit is always positive and welcoming..
Down below are some memories captured through cameras lenses that show some Houston and southern Texas charm.
Hope you’ll enjoy viewing them.
Women’s Day Celebration | March 8
If your eyes are positive, you will love the world. But if your tongue is positive, the world will love you.
A woman’s love is in action. She looks with her heart and feels with her eyes. A woman is the bank where her family deposits all anger, worries and hurt. A woman and her love last a lifetime. (Fantastic lines by Mother Teresa)
The night with Croatian Ambassador in United States
On March 06, the Croatian Club had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Pjer Simunovic, the Croatian Ambassador in USA.
Mr. Simunovic was welcomed by the Lone Star Croatian Club President Mr. Kresimir Kurjakovic, who informed Ambassador of the work and all members’ achievements in the Croatian Club Houston.
We are very thankful for Mr. Simunovic’s visit and his encouraging messages to Croatians in Houston.

The new year is also a time to make up for all the time that you might have missed.
Reconciliations and reconnecting with old friends can help turn back the clock and put the important things in life back into perspective..
Croatians showed it laud and showed it proud that they survived another year of adventures and are ready to tackle what the new year has to offer them..
Let’s call this year good and start a new one!!

Christmas party!
It’s the most beautiful part of the year....
This was our annual Christmas party and the club was nicely decorated in the Christmas spirit.
While the Christmas songs were playing, members and guests were mingling around sharing their stories.
We hope to see you at the next event - New Year party!
Happy Thanksgiving! We gather on this day to be thankful for what we have, for the family we love, the friends we cherish, and for the blessings that will come.
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concetrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough - Oprah Winfrey”.
It is a wonderful day when no one diets. So, let’s have a drink and be thankful to the host - Croatian Club Houston.
We hope to see you at the next event - Christmas party!
The Halloween party is traditionally one of the most dramatic events in all aspects. Our costumes were just perfect and some of them were scary enough to make small kids cry at the very beginning of the party.
As is mentioned in the Halloween section located near the bottom of this page, Croatians are always creative when it comes to Halloween parties.
We are proud to show some of the several images captured during the 2019 Halloween party. If you would like to view the expanded Halloween party slideshow, scroll down towards the bottom of this page.
The club was perfectly decorated in Halloween style with scary Halloween music playing under a lightshow.
It simply couldn’t be better than it was and everyone enjoyed this night in the club.
This year part of the celebration was the selection of the best costumes in different categories including the best children’s costumes.
It was so fun watching participants walk down the stage presenting their costumes while receiving applauses from the crowd. As a fun part of the show, symbolic recognitions and awards were given to the best costumes winners.
It was a very successful party and like always, we would like to thank all participants as well as those who worked hard to organize this event.
We hope to see you at the next event - Thanksgiving party!
The Latin night party was definitely special in all aspects.
First, it had a party theme that had no relation to Croatian culture. Just organizing such an event in our city, with around fifty percent of the population being Latin, was a challenge but we handled it well.
Second, thanks to the Croatian club members’ creativity and enormous support, we are proud to say that this party had real Latin charm, rhythm and harmony.
Mariachi band in the Croatian Club
As a special surprise, we invited a Mariachi band from Houston to perform and set the atmosphere in the club.
Within an hour of starting, the band already created an unforgettable experience among everyone there.
Proudly, we can say that this was the first time that Croatian Club in Houston had a Mariachi band as performing guests.
Thank you everyone for your participation and contribution with this event. We hope to see you at the next one.
Our next event is the Club Halloween party. Stay tuned.
The night was one of our biggest events of the year. With homemade Slavonian food and traditional Slavonian music, the Club was full of people celebrating Slavonian heritage.
Club members originating from that region, proudly walked down the hall offering all guests the chance to try Slavonian delicacies like kulen (famous slavonian sausage), bacon, cheese and other foods. Of course, the standard slavonian brandy (rakija) was served during the walk!
Women dressed in traditional Slavonian dresses danced in the ceremony making everything more authentic and fun.
The celebration lasted till early morning hours just like in Slavonija, when "becari" on the way out from a "kafana" are followed by "tamburasi" all the way home. We didn't have "tamburase", but surely Slavonian music was playing in their cars until reaching their homes!
It was a very successful party and we would like to thank all participants as well as those who worked hard to organize this event.
We hope to see you at the next event - Latin night!
This was the day when we invited everyone to Surfside beach to celebrate the successful first half of 2019.
In spite of the weather forecast not pointing to a hot and dry day at the beach, Croatians showed up for the party as intended.
When the storm started, the party place was moved under the covered terrace of our hotel and continued with no major interruption. At some point, there was an electricity outage too, but some Croatians campers had a solution for that as well. A camping lantern was used and illuminated the terrace making the night even more beautiful and romantic.
Enjoy some of photo memories from this event....
Later on the weather improved so the party continued untill late in the night!
And like always, after a storm comes calm weather. In the morning a beautiful sunrise over Surfside beach announced sunny day....
Here are a few images of Surfside beach around 6 in the morning....
A breakfast was served on the beach while getting ready to enjoy a calm and clean ocean water, sun and warm sand.
We don’ want to close this presentation without thanking everyone who participated in it. We all contributed to the success of this event the best way we could - by being who we truly are...
Also, it was a privilege to have Ed, our youngest guest, joined us just for a few hours.
This was a night where we celebrated the Croatian heritage within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We ate our favorite food from the region and listened our favorite music from the region and danced our favorite dances from the region. We had a great turnout and hope that everyone who came enjoyed this night.
Here are some pictures capturing the memories made at the party.
Please visit our Event calendar for the next party and we hope to see you there.
It was a beautiful spring day in Houston and another spring picnic gathering at Musilandia park property.
It is not an easy task to please everybody but Croatians did their best to provide entertainment for all guests of all ages.
Also, Croatians made sure that everyone had a plenty of well-prepared fresh traditional food and beverages.
Croatians in Houston had another successful party this past Saturday. Our “Dalmatian” night was a hit as all tables, including our small coffee bar (Malo misto), were filled up.
Understanding that many may have had different plans for that night, we would like to extend our gratitude to our members, dear friends and guests for their participation and contribution.
We hope that everyone had a great time in our club and we wish to see you all again at our future events. Please see our event calendar for upcoming events.
Nase malo misto - café bar
We are proud to present our new modern café bar inside the Croatian club, designed by Bernardica. It’s a cozy and charming place with a lot of potential. Similar to a real Croatian “kafic” back home, we would like to make it a happy gathering place for everyone.
Stay tuned for more information about kafic’s scheduled activities! We would also like to hear your ideas.
Thank you for watching and so long until another event!!!
Saturday night, February 23rd, 2019 in Croatian Club
Croatians had a Western night party!
...and a few more to end with a big thank you to all the creators of this magnificant show.
Below are memories recorded during several events in 2018 and before...
Croatians in Houston organize 2 annual picnics: in the Spring and later in fall.
Both take place on the nearby private property of one of members whose contribution is huge to make those events successful.
At the picnic, the Croatian home made food is served along with delicious Croatian delicacies.
The income made on that event is used to support payments related to the Croatian club expenses.
Croatians like to share their happiness with food, beverages and delicacies whenever they can. Along with food, the music and dancing is just something that cannot be missed.
The Lone Star Croatian Folk group and children are presenting their program.
And a few more pictures for the end...
Under the direction and guidance of the Slavic Heritage Alliance of Houston, the Slavic communities gather annually to honor Sts.Cyril&Methodius, and to share in the celebration of their Slavic heritage with ethnic foods, singing and dancing.
The general public is invited to join in this celebration and learn about the wonderful histories and cultures of the Czech, Croatian, Polish and Ukrainian communities.
Seabrook is a small city in the heart of Bay Area Houston, famous for several fish markets in the city's waterfront. Croatians are famous fishermen in this country, so there is a big Croatian community living in that area.
For several years, as an Croatian tradition, they used to organize the Croatian ball with the legendary singer Jo Maracic Maki. Those parties were taking place in the nearby, nice touristic place Kemah, making them more charming and glamorous.
Here are just a couple of images in a memory of that time
Croatians from Seabrook were the main organizers of the Croatian Ball.
The president of Croatia
Croatians in Houston were honored to welcome the president of Croatia Mr. Ivo Josipovic, during his visit to United States.
He expressed a desire to see and talk to the Croatian community in South Texas.
The Lone Star Croatian folk dance group performed for the Croatian President and his staff from Washington.
As not every Croatian club gets such an opportunity, presented are some of the memories captured from that event.
Famous Croatian musican concerts in Houston
It was Friday May 8, 2015. Oliver Dragojevic had his concert in Houston.
Croatians invited Oliver and his band for a dinner in the Croatian Club. Down below are some of captured moments.
21st century Croatian cello duo; play pop and rock songs, classical and film music.
Croatians from Houston didn’t miss the oportunity to attend.
When it comes to Halloween parties, Croatians are very creative. Hope you will enjoy looking into down bellow examples.
Galveston Getaway: the historic and fun beach town - Houstonians favorite weekend playground.
Galveston is a coastal resort city and port off the southeast coast on Galveston Island and Pelican Island in the American State of Texas.
Galveston is home to six historic districts containing one of the largest and historically significant collections of 19th-century buildings in the U.S
The downtown area offers an intriguing selection of shops, restaurants, galleries, and museums within a perfect radius for self-guided tours.
In the late 1800s Galveston was known as the “Playground of the South”. Today, it still retains a shared claim to the title among major cities along the Gulf Coast states. Galveston is a popular tourist destination which in 2007 brought $808 million to the local economy and attracted 5.4 million visitors.
It is also the popular getaway for Croatians living in Houston. Here are some of memories from recent visits.
Surfside Beach Getaway: some of the best surfing in Texas
Just 20 miles from Galveston the Surfside Beach produces some of the best, most consistent surf on the upper Texas coast. It works on small swells and holds double overhead and better. Two factors are responsible for this fact: deep water and long jetties.
Although you may not see Croatians on surfboards, but definitely they like to: kick back on the beach, catch a trophy fish that will make your friends jealous, and enjoy the easygoing island life.
Here are a few photos from the Hawaiian party at Surfside beach. Any resemblance to reality is pure coincidence.
Hope you’ll enjoy them!
More memories are cooming soon
